Cotignac
Typical village of the Provence Verte
As a typical Provençal village and an important pilgrims’ halt of the Christian Provence, Cotignac rises up from the foot of an 80 metre cliff. A spectacular view on the hills and up-country of the Var unveils to you from the rock. The cave dwellings, former shelters during barbarian invasions, naturally merge with the setting. At the heart of the old village, it is a true delight to stroll around the alleyways edged with 16th and 17th century houses, relax in the shade of centenary plane trees or near one of the fountains and contemplate the lively terraces of the bars and restaurants.
